You Have A High Calling

Theme For The Week: Our main text for this series of devotionals is from Ephesians 4.

Intro Prayer: “Jesus, please help me in this time to be fully present to You and to myself that I may commune with You for the sake of your glory and the world around me.”

Silence: In this time, try and become silent before the Lord both internally and externally for 5 minutes. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to stillness.

Praise: Bless the Lord by declaring these truths about Him!

“You are my king and you are kind. You are my keeper and my kinsmen redeemer. Your are the king of kings and your Kingdom is good news! You hold the keys of death and Hades and true life is found in knowing you.”

Devotional: You have a high calling. Whether you were an afterthought in your family, rejected by your teachers, bullied in school or beloved by all, God made you intentionally, wonderfully and beautifully. You have calling and significance. You are an image bearer of the King. In Christ, our calling comes to life by the power of the Spirit!

At the same time, in our Scripture today Paul urges us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received. That means that we can live in such a way that we don’t live up to our potential or squander our calling. The pages of the Bible and human history are filled with examples of this.

But don’t worry, God doesn’t leave you to figure it out on your own, with a “Hope you make it” attitude. He desires to come alongside us and puts His people in our lives to help us grow to who we are made to be.

Scripture: Read today’s text slowly. Feed your spirit on the words. Your goal in this time is to commune with Jesus through His Word. Take note as you sense His Presence.

Ephesians 4.1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Worship: Worship forms the truths of Scripture deep within our lives. This week we will be worshipping to the song New Wine by Hillsong. It is a passionate cry for a fresh move of God in our lives.

Listen: Take time to listen to the Holy Spirit. Write down anything you sense the Lord speaking.

Obedience: What from today is the Lord calling you to put in practice? Could be to pray for someone, to call someone, to serve someone etc.
